The programme looks at the history of the school and how the troubles were to affect it.
It was here in the midst of the Ballymurphy community that St. Thomas's Intermediate School was located. Built in 1957 for catholic boys of secondary school age who were considered educational failures, St. Thomas's quickly developed a strong relationship with the local community.
In October 1988 the school was closed by the Catholic Church without consulting the community.
Contributors include MATT SALTERS - ex-St. Thomas's teacher - presently professor of education at Queen's University of Belfast - SEAMUS HEANEY - ex-St. Thomas's teacher - now Professor of Poetry at Oxford University, GERRY ARMSTRONG - ex-St. Thomas's pupil and Northern Ireland international footballer and Ballymurphy priest FATHER DES WILSON.
Narrative written by ROISIN McDONOUGH.
Produced and directed by PETER MILLAR.
