ARDOYNE FILM PROJECT As part of the Community Visions series Jimmy McAleavey has been working closely with a group from Ardoyne, including Helen Quigley, Patsy McCann, Michael Grant and Catherine Ferran. This has involved workshops with industry professionals in Screenwriting, Art Design, Sound and Video.
The group is busy evolving a script for a 30-minute drama to be shot in Ardoyne: bouncing ideas and other objects off each other in creative collaboration. The director, Brendan J. Byrne, an Ardoyne man himself, is at hand to offer the benefit of his filmmaking experience in terms of visualisation and story telling. Helen is a short story writer who has instinctively taken to the more dramatic form, while the power of Patsy's imagination, previously demonstrated on stage, lends weight to the team. Michael is an actor whose quirky inspirations keep the script buoyant. Catherine's ambitions lie solely in acting, but her feistiness and humour have found their way into the script as a voice which seems to dictate lines of dialogue. Jimmy is a young writer with short story and radio drama experience.
The team is looking forward to shooting in Ardoyne, both in gaining practical filmmaking experience, and in involving a wider group of people from the unique community of Ardoyne.
