Conducted by one of Ireland's foremost lighting cameramen with an international reputation for his work in documentary. The tutor's extensive experience over many years has always been complemented by familiarity with the latest technology. The Masterclass will concentrate on single operator fly-on-the-wall style filming using a variety of digital camcorder formats: Storyboards, preparation, shoot for editing, use of artificial and natural light, single camera use, widescreen.

Introduction to
Non Linear Editing using Final Cut Pro 3

Final Cut Prois increasingly used by video professionals for cutting edge video editing, video compositing and for generating video effects.   It has become popular software for non-linear editing on Apple computers because of its smooth integration of Firewire. The workshop covers all the basics of Final Cut Pro; participants learn how to log and capture footage, make insert and overwrite edits, create transitions, titles special effects techniques. The emphasis throughout this introduction is on practical exercises and examples.  These exercises will cover project management issues, using the canvas and timeline to full effect, working with audio, fine-tuning your edits, creating transitions and outputting your work for multimedia and the web.  Feel free to tailor the course to your exact needs if you wish.There will be hands-on time. Participants should be Mac literate. Previous editing experience is preferred but not essential.
The Tutor is an experienced editor who has worked in both film and video for broadcast and community programming and is familiar with a variety of editing software
