Born in Armagh, J B Vallely was painting from an early age and by the time he was thirty was regarded as one of the most exciting Irish painters. He talks to Northern Visions about his love of music and his fondness for Armagh "There is something about Armagh... I couldn't live anywhere else".

THE BEAT - Belfast Carnival Centre Launch Party
The Belfast Carnival takes place each year thanks to the work of The Beat Initiative, a unique organisation established in 1994 with the aim of creating a non-sectarian and inclusive public celebration in Belfast. Originally located in East Belfast, The Beat Initiative recently moved their premises to Boyd Street on the lower Shankill, NvTv went along to find out more.

KEEP OUR ARTS ALIVE
An Arts Sector rally to Save the Arts took place on Monday 10th December 2007 at Stormont, Belfast. Participants explain the importance of the arts and why it deserves additional financial support from the current budget. Keepourartsalive is a campaign by the arts sector and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland to improve the outcome for the arts.

Series on NvTv profiles the work of filmmakers in Belfast, this week underEXPOSED got up close and personal with local filmmaker Allan Gildea.


PAINT FOR PEACE
Danny Devenny and Mark Ervine are two muralists from opposite sides of the political divide. Together, they are crossing the sectarian boundaries of Northern Ireland bringing with them a positive outlook for the future with the murals they paint.

BELFAST MELA 2009
NvTv goes along to this year's Belfast Mela event which took place in Botanic Gardens. The event was organised by ArtsEkta to bring together the different ethnic minorities in the city and showcase their culture. Nisha Tandon (of ArtsEkta) talks about the event as well as the many stall holders and the public.
THE WEST AWAKES
Join Kabosh Theatre Company on location as they bring a collection of plays to life on the historic Falls Road in Belfast. Starring Gerard Jordan and Antoinette Morelli, directed by Paula McFetridge, featuring five new dramas by Kieron Magee, Jimmy McAleavey, Laurence McKeown and Roseleen Walsh.




FESTIVAL OF FOOLS - SUMMER TREATS
This summer, the Festival of Fools hosted Sunday Treats, a series of shows on Sunday afternoons. Northern Visions was there to film Turbo Jonez, Belfast Community Circus, Barren Carrousel and Skate Naked.
BEAT LANTERN PARADE
The Beat Initiative manages to bring together a large number of the community to perform artistically on a cold winter's evening on the streets of Belfast.
