The A Team

Northern Visions works with large numbers of children and young people in a variety of environments. In every instance one or two stand out as having a particular aptitude and enthusiasm for film making. The A Team brings these young people together on a regular basis to enhance their skills, develop their knowledge and understanding, and to give them additional opportunities for film making and related activities. This takes  the form of a weekly club held on Saturdays.

In this way, filmmaking becomes an accepted form of expression for the members of each group and skills can be passed on from the A team members to other members of both their own group and other groups within the Hothouse Kidz project. We believe this peer education approach will have a high success rate in attracting young people to film making and maintaining their commitment to the completion of projects.  The A Team will benefit from contact with industry professionals and their production is expected to be of a high standard.

The club will host activities such as intensive skills workshops in areas like camera, sound, set design, editing, lighting and grip; screenings of other young people's work both locally and globally; exercises in drama development, animation, documentary styles, and pop videos. The club will be largely self-regulating and there will be an informal approach encouraging a friendly, co-operative atmosphere.
