4 April 2002 Patsy and Fiona (Susan's mum) brought Martina, Susan, Mairead, Laura and Catriona up to Northern Visions for the afternoon. We looked over some of the rushes from previous days and worked on a script for the blue screen shoot on Saturday. It was important to get a handle on the transitions from reality to the virtual game and back again, each scene was examined for lines that Amelia and Cormac would need to explain or further reveal the story. It was decided to incorporate Gemma into the virtual game so that gaining her release became the reason for Amelia and Cormac to play. We also added a new scene at the beginning of the film where Gemma is kept in by her mum when Amelia and Cormac call but she climbs out the bedroom window anyway. There were some heated arguments about the structure of the film but the afternoon proved very constructive. Simon
5 April 2002 We had hoped to be able to shoot the interview with a developer but they take Easter week off. We met at the Bowling Green clubhouse and then went on to Gemma's house for the opening scene. This took longer than planned and was additionally difficult because Martina had school work to do and could not attend. Having shot that we had lunch in the Leisure Centre and went to Meadow Lane Shopping centre to do vox pops. The manager (Paul) was very co-operative; he even had the music turned down. We had three questions worked out and persuaded a series of young people to answer. Susan and Mairead did camera, Laura sound, Amelia and Cormac asked the questions and Catriona and Gemma acted as persuaders. It went well but didn't really leave enough time for reshooting the scene outside the cinema. Simon
