This meeting was given over to planning. Laura Haydon had been engaged to carry out some research for the Magherafelt film and she came along to get some pointers from the young people as had been agreed at the previous meeting. She introduced herself and we went through the list of potential interviewees and other sources of information to see which ones she could approach. This was a useful exercise as she has little knowledge of the individuals and Patsy and the kids explained why they thought we should be talking to them. Laura had already been investigating some statistics and historical material for the group and she reported on that.
Martina talked about her friend who had been threatened by someone with a knife at a local disco recently. All the kids agreed that there was enough violence to prevent them from going to discos.
We talked about what the youth workers, should be asked in their interview. It was agreed they should talk about the issues facing young people and not so much on the resources or lack of them available to tackle the issues.
Martina agreed to research the story about her grandfather's field.
Susan said she had a relative who is getting married but can't afford to buy a house in Magherafelt because they are being priced out of the market.
We discussed what photographs still needed to be taken and then what the virtual board game should look like.

We had a draft step outline of the script. The first task was to go through this and look for mistakes or pieces that could be improved.
We then got to acting out how the interviewers will cross from reality to the virtual world and back. It was important to decide exactly where each interview is to take place. We talked about how we could animate the church spires.
We looked at the rough edit of another film Speed which has some animated graphics in it. It was agreed to invite the computer graphics expert to the next meeting. Also Ann will do a documentary session and work with the presenters on their dramatic approach to the film.
