Friday 11th January
Back to the Bowling Green - the group meets in the bowling green clubhouse attached to the leisure centre in Magherafelt. It works very well. Maybe we could try that sort of bowling later in the year.
Each group has the option to retain the services of a researcher for a few days to look into areas that might be missed by the young people or be difficult for them to get proper answers. A journalist called Laura Haydon has been approached to do some work for the Magherafelt project and we discussed what areas might be useful for her to look into. It was agreed to invite her to the next meeting.
We split up to discuss planning the project and what photos to take. The planning group talked about virtual models, the cinema and how to start the film. I proposed we hire the cinema to shoot a scene with the kids watching a commercial about Magherafelt in a darkened cinema. This lead to an animated discussion about ways to navigate around the film and someone came up with the idea of using an adapted virtual model of a monopoly game to represent Magherafelt. The interviewers can be keyed or somehow inserted into the model to get from one section to the next.
