Sunday 9th December A lot of preparation and planning had gone into the practice shoot, with a fairly definite script and particular pieces of music to be used. On the day it was chaotic and the tendency of the group to concentrate on performance over the needs of documentary filmmaking was evident. There were some disputes over trivial issues and it has become clear that a core group needs to be formed to concentrate on the documentary approach. We did several interviews with a mixture of parents, young people and other adults on musical tastes and styles over the last three decades. Pieces to camera on aspects of this were used as introductions to pop video style performances of several songs. We also shot some links and a piece about anorexia. It is intended to edit this into an entertaining view of music through the decades. A session to develop the final film is planned for Jan 5th in Northern Visions before the Superbowl outing. Simon
