8th January 2002
After the last session the girls wanted to interview someone from outside their group. They all agreed Louise would be good, she's outspoken and independent and agreed to the interview as soon as she was asked. The other interviewee was Ciaran.
On the night we spent some time setting up the shot so that the background didn't look 'community centre' grey. Actually we spent a lot of time on this as Sarah, Marie and Michelle wanted it looking just right. It's a problem with lighting and dressing sets; it takes time and doesn't always help a lot. As it turned out the interview looked great but Ciaran was a little stilted and Louise didn't say a lot. In the end Michelle and Deborah did a sort of interrogators' double act and grilled the interviewees mercilessly. Unfortunately because there were two interviewees, we used up the mics on them and there was no mic on the questioners - they sound very distant.
There were some magic moments in the interview about life in Ligoniel and ideas for solutions to the 'Troubles'. It lasted over 30 mins but will probably only make 2 or 3 after editing.
