Report 09/03/02
Today's shoot began at Oldpark playing fields, where it was bitterly cold. The tracking shot we were hoping for proved too difficult to get on the grass, we were forced to try several alternatives and we managed to find a compromise in the end. When the rain began, we called lunch and travelled back to base where Kevin was meeting up with the younger group to help with the design of the party set. After lunch, we headed back up to finish of the Oldpark sequence and get our shots from the taxi. The group's commitment and attention is to be applauded. Thanks to everyone

Report Saturday 9th March.
The older members of the group met up in the morning for the filming in the Oldpark area. It was a very cold morning.
Shpresa, Namrata and I spent the time rehearsing Shpresa's piece in the warmth of the taxi. The rehearsals went well and Shpresa spoke of moving to Belfast as a refugee. Unfortunately, I understand that the filming didn't work out. Since, Shpresa has asked me to be there if they do it again as she is used to talking about things with me. On the day, I'd had to leave to go to see the younger members of the group. She also said she would appreciate a little more time to do the scene, as there were only two takes on the day. I feel it would be important to take time over this, as Shpresa's story is the source from which the other stories flow.
In the afternoon, Kevin (the art director) and I spent time with the younger members of the group painting. This was great fun. It was a bit of a change for them and they seemed to enjoy the experience. Marianne wasn't able to go but Kudzi, Nicholas, Depika and Nitika painted all sorts of designs, flags, cartoons and abstract shapes. They experimented with banners and colour schemes.

Report Saturday 16th March
I spent the afternoon with the younger ones again. Marianne, Depika and Nitika came along, Nicholas fulfilled his role as sound person and it was Kudzi's birthday.
We were locked out of An Droichead so we went for lunch in Maggie May's and then to the MCRC offices. We spent the afternoon planning the party scene talking about who would be invited, what sort of displays would be put up, what roles people would take on. They decided Marianne would be the Mistress of Ceremonies and would introduce the different performances. Nitika and Depika would like to dance and they are practising their routine this week and deciding which outfit to wear. They thought Kudzi might like to perform some of her circus skills, Nicholas could play his violin.
They thought it would be a good idea to welcome Shpresa to the party by saying 'hello' in their 'mother tongue' languages. They're all very excited at the idea of filming the party as they have felt a little distant from the filming process for the past few weeks. When they heard the others were filming at a football match Nitika was concerned she was missing out on something very special. 'What football match is it? Is it Liverpool?' she asked.
