One week to go before the shoot. Today we practised camera and sound in an interview scenario, as a bit of last minute preparation. Everyone was allocated his or her definite technical and artistic positions and we discussed how each day would develop on the shoot. The group were in real good spirit today and I am really looking forward to what I hope shall be a very interesting shoot. It will be great if all the young people can experience the shoot, allowing for physical well being that is, as they all deserve their hard work and dedication to pay off.

The Fleming Fulton shoot was confined to filming in the school such was the nature of the script and was a great opportunity to experiment with creating effective sets. One day was spent filming in the courthouse, which although a great set, and was kindly provided it did cause some disabled access problems. The shooting days were short as we were confined to school hours. This didn't cause any problems and was welcomed anyhow as this complimented the needs of some of the young people. The film is an experiment in creative documentary filmmaking and involved novel ways of interviewing subjects with the purpose of informing and entertaining both the audience and the young people themselves. The young people found the intensive shoot enjoyable and refreshing and I felt the work of Dearbhla and myself was very worthwhile when the young people expressed their thanks for involving them in the project. I think the film will prove to be very different from the approach commonly made to disabled issue films and I eagerly look forward to the screening. We have one more day's shoot to take place as one of the young people had taken ill, and then we will be at the edit stage. All in all a brilliant project to have the opportunity to work on.
