Open Arts/Fleming Fulton youth film group November 21st 2001
We had a well-planned session with two aims. Firstly, to show and explain editing using the practice video from the previous week. The group responded enthusiastically and we kept the use of material light hearted, which kept the group interested. Secondly we wanted to discuss the ideas for the film. We used video clips from a broad range of documentaries to inspire and provoke discussion in the group. A one-on-one session was used for the first time and was successful in multiplying the input from the group.
The technician at the school* was helpful in supplying TV and video, which we hope will be available on a weekly basis but we were disappointed to find that the notebooks hadn't been filled in. Since the teaching practice of the school doesn't seem to suit this type of "homework" approach, we will have to rethink our strategy. Gerard, Anne & Dearbhla
